In honor of April's National Poetry Month, here are three of them...

Desert Flower (What are you looking for?)

What are you looking for out in the desert?
There’s miles of sand and rocks and not much there.
What are you looking for out in the desert?
If I’m with you
I just don’t care.

What are you looking for in the cool night air?
There’s billions of stars but no one’s there.
What are you looking for in the cool night air?
If I’m with you
I just don’t care.

Little desert flower,
born of the sun and the wind
on those long summer days.
Little desert flower,
dreaming of colors and canyons
and rivers of violet haze.
Desert flower, you’re in paradise
without a drop of water in sight.

What are you looking for, desert flower?
I’m not so much but I’m all that’s there.
What are you looking for, desert flower?
If I’m with you
I just don’t care.

I Can’t See You Anymore

Look at us falling,
calling to each other
but I can’t hear a word you say.
I look at you but it’s getting dark now,
and I can’t see you anymore.

Look at us crawling.
Trying to keep it up
but the road’s gone on too long.
I’m looking forward,
turning back,
But I can’t see you anymore.

Hey, we were once so good together.
Hey, how about a second chance?
Hey, we were once so good together.
How about one last dance?

Look at us stalling.
Trying not to make a move
that’ll end up being wrong.
I can’t reach you.
I can‘t read you.
You’re over my head.
Look at us.
Look at us.
Look at me.
I can’t see you anymore.

Hey, weren’t we so good together?
Hey, maybe we’re worth a second chance?
Hey, weren’t we so good together?
Maybe this isn’t our final dance.

Solo Night at the Honky Tonk

(lyrics by Miki and Pete Schulte Jr.)

Oh, it’s solo night at the honky tonk,
none of your friends are there.
Yes, it’s solo night at the honky tonk.
You’re all alone and no one cares.

Yes, it’s solo night at the honky tonk.
It’s just a dime a dance.
Oh, it’s solo night at the honky tonk.
Try not to lose your pants.

Hey, you might find somebody,
a stray cowboy on a stool.
Hey, you might find somebody,
a rich old man or a handsome fool.

Oh, it’s solo night at the honky tonk,
a chance to fall in love.
Oh yes it’s solo night at the honky tonk,
somebody sent from high above.

Hey, you might meet somebody…
down at the honky tonk.
Don’t give up on that somebody…
It’s solo night at the honky tonk.

One more time!
Oh yes it’s solo night at the honky tonk.
You drank it all there is no beer.
Yes it’s solo night at the honky tonk.
It’s closing time now get out of here!
